Periodontal disease or gum disease are not only being experienced by adults, anyone can experience it even children at their young age. Gingivitis is the most common gum disease for it is its earliest and the mildest form. It is being indicated by red, tender and swollen gums and gums that easily bleeds during brushing.
To prevent children from having gingivitis and gum disease, parents should teach them the proper oral hygiene. Proper brushing and flossing techniques should be taught and its importance should be inculcated in their minds.
Poor oral hygiene is the premier cause of gum disease in children. When bacteria is allowed to progress plaque are formed and it produces acids that irritates the gums resulting to inflammation. Dental check ups are also necessary for your children. Unrecognizable symptoms of gum diseases can be detected and prevented at its early stage.
